Installing RockNRor
You may need to run RockNRorAdmin program as admin.
It depends on the location where you installed Age of Empires.
If you experience difficulties, please also refer to documentation (.doc file in downloaded archive).
Requirements

Windows XP, 7 or later (It may work with wine on Linux, but it is not guaranteed)

ROR 1.0a version
ROR 1.0a version is the officially supported version.
To install it, download the RockNRor archive and extract all files in a (temporary) directory of your choice.
Then run RockNRorAdmin.exe and click the menu File > Install RockNRor
Select ROR_API.dll file : please select it in the (temporary) directory where you extracted all files.
Select game EXE: on a clean installation, it should be found automatically by the system. If not, select empiresx.exe in your AOE installation directory.
Click OK.
Other AOE/ROR versions
Download the RockNRor archive and extract all files in a (temporary) directory of your choice.
Then run RockNRorAdmin.exe

Press CTRL-R (or use the menu) to select target empires(x).exe file.

Press CTRL-E to run the advanced editor

Click on ROR API section and make sure the box "Enabled Feature" is checked.

Click Save button and close the popup.

Copy ROR_API.* files from the downloaded archive and paste them in AOE installation (root) directory.

Copy wndmode.dll to AOE installation (root) directory (useful for windowed mode)

Create a directory "RockNRor" in AOE installation (root) directory.

Copy all files from "RockNRor" folder from downloaded archive

and paste them to {AOE_root_directory}\RockNRor\

Open {AOE_root_directory}\ROR_API.conf file in a text editor (may require to run the editor as administrator)

Find the line "RockNRor\RockNRor.dll"

Replace "RockNRor.dll" by the filename that corresponds to your game version : for example, "RockNRor_AOE10c.dll" if your game version is AOE 1.0c (empires.exe).

How to configure RockNRor options
This file is read when the game starts.
It is possible to modify some options directly from the game (Age of Empires process):

Press F1 from "fullscreen" game menus (excluding scenario editor menu and in-game screen menu)

Click the "Close" button to press Escape to go back to previous screen

The changes apply to current process, but won't be saved in configuration file.

To modify a parameter permanently, please modify (installation dir)\RockNRor\RockNRor.xml.

Warning, some parameters apply to random games, which mean they only apply when starting a new game (RM / DM)
